My sweet mom-in-law, Helene, grew up in the chilly state of North Dakota. She came from a large family with 7 children, several of which still live there, Jason's precious Grandma, Bernice included. Here are some of the sweet people we spent time with there and the stories I don't want to forget.

(From left to right and clockwise) Grandma Bernice, Jason, me and Caden, Great Aunt Bernie, Helene, Great Uncle Ray and Robert.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SzLhuPuSn4I/AAAAAAAAAWo/lDXpKq8wqKo/s400/North+Dakota+2009+022.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5418641486291050370" />

Caden's first time in a high chair, complete with clanging measuring spoons! Grandma bought it at a garage sale and we loved it! Caden was unfortunately/fortunately fighting off a bad cough while we were there. The fortunately part was because literally every time he coughed without fail he let out this unique and LOUD gutteral Aaarrruummmm!!! It seemed a bit of his way of communicating to us and keeping us entertained. This is his 'warrior' face... bad coughs BEWARE!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SzLht1AzujI/AAAAAAAAAWg/Qk1tViNdN0Y/s400/North+Dakota+2009+026.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5418641479120960050" />

Aunt Bridget and Uncle Alan... I didn't realize before, but Bridget, one of the youngest of the 7 siblings, had some hysterical stories of torture inflicted on her by her older siblings, namely Glenn and Helene. You could still see hints of poor Bridget's past pains with certain distrustful expressions and reluctance to go along with something 'fishy'. Don't worry though, she can hold her own.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SzLhtZ4FCsI/AAAAAAAAAWY/eTJQXdCN9Jc/s400/North+Dakota+2009+011.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5418641471836588738" />

Cousin Erin and her husband Devon... they got married just a couple weeks before us. The heat was on them from all questioning them about when they are going to have babies... sorry guys!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SzLhtH6XDaI/AAAAAAAAAWQ/M5L3WmfEMCk/s400/North+Dakota+2009+006.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5418641467014319522" />

Uncle Glenn, Aunt Diana and Diana's dad Louis. Glenn and Robert hunted pheasant a day or so before we arrived and Diana cooked up an incredible pheasant 'stew' creation, it literally melted in your mouth... And although we were all the way up north, we still managed to enjoy a lil' Southern Comfort. We topped off the evening with a specially brewed coffee complete with a lil' whip and baileys-- quite possibly one of the best cups of coffee Ive ever had, at the least, memorable!

Glenn and Diana both ride in motorcycle rallys-- Diana told us about a crazy trip they took through Black Hills South Dakota where a buffalo almost got the best of her.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SzLhslacB1I/AAAAAAAAAWI/y5Ypb82g2LQ/s400/North+Dakota+2009+015.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5418641457753622354" />

Almost everybody... Clockwise from me, Grandma Bernice, Aunt Yvonne, cousins Erin and Devon, Uncle Glenn, Louis, Aunt Diana, Aunt Bridget and Uncle Alan, Robert, Helene, Jason and Caden.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SzLbwGSoJyI/AAAAAAAAAWA/t_409lBqEV8/s400/North+Dakota+2009+001.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5418634921049073442" />

Aunt Diana and Aunt Bridget kissin' the cheeky monkey.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SzLbv9TgIoI/AAAAAAAAAV4/8KdPsLeG444/s400/North+Dakota+2009+003.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5418634918636823170" />

Aunt Yvonne "Vonny" made Caden the most adorable sweater that fit him to a T! He made it easy on us, for sure! :)
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SzLbvJN_3-I/AAAAAAAAAVo/k6QXZc4KPn0/s400/North+Dakota+2009+030.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5418634904655093730" />

It seemed to come to close all too soon, especially since I didn't quite get to see any of the snow I had hoped to see (it snowed the day after we left). We look forward to coming back again soon! Thanks for all your warmth, love and laughter... We had a wonderful time!

One Little Monkey's...

First Halloween! I think Caden had fun dressing up in his very first Halloween costume... It fit him so cute and when the monkey face fell over his eyes he didn't even seem to mind. We took our little monkey boy to this year's Annual First Fest where he got reacquainted with his long time friend Noah (aka Pastor Gregg). Between all the games, rides, food, kids and costumes, our littlest trick or treater got pooped and fell fast asleep in the blanket of his warm monkey suit.

<img style="display:block; Anyhow, I am simply amazed at how much my little boy has changed in such a short amount of time. It is such a joy to see him sweetly but discretely lock eyes with me now and he smiles SO BIG I'm not sure his glowing little face can radiate all the happiness he feels inside! Things have become a bit more predictable schedule-wise lately... he seems to be pretty stout through the day... not much for napping, at least not as much as I expected him to. Anywhere from 8:30 to 9:30, things begin to wind down, he gets his last meal in and we rock together in the chair next to his crib until he falls asleep. He's been sleeping much longer too... mostly in the 5 hour range at night, but we did hit a rock star total of 7 straight hours of sleep in the last week! Glorious as it was, I must admit I look forward to his waking up early still and I sleepily make my way over to his crib, pick his warm little body up and hug him all the way back to Mommy and Daddy's bed where we sleep the remaining hours of the night all snuggly warm. That's the only reason I'm looking forward to the cold weather ;) Many times Jason and I are both awake before Caden is and we snicker about our little Prince Caden fast asleep in his KING SIZE bed ;)

<img style="display:block; Pure, precious, innocent. He can sleep so soundly and peacefully or at times wiggle, kick an arm or leg into the air, grunt, or dream, sigh... suckle. He stirs as he wakens and blinks his sweet bright eyes and then realizes the hunger. As I draw him near his sparkling eyes widen and his perfect little lips soften into the sweetest 'O'. After three weeks, I sense he knows me now and is comforted being near me. He curls himself around me as he sleeps on my chest with that soft, round little head, resting heavily in the nape of my neck which gives me the prime opportunity to giggle at the dark hair on his ears and shoulders. He has long arms, long legs, long fingers and toes. Sometimes he sleeps with those long legs drawn into the 'froggy', others with them draped loosely to the sides. He doesn't like his feet covered very often which I learned from his kicking the bottom out of his swaddle, so now I leave his feet out most of the time. I started taking naps with him everyday and we sleep next to one another keeping warm. Waking up I get to watch him arch his back and stretch his little fists up and behind his head while his face turns red ;)

I'm learning to lay down my own agenda, to literally stop what I'm doing right in my tracks, and spend time with him. In those moments I get the privilege of discovering some new smile or expression of his that I hadn't yet seen, or maybe that he hadn't even had before and I know I will never forget them... and in those moments I am so thankful to have been given the cue from God to soak in something memorable while I have the chance.

Meeting Our Caden

With great joy, I'd like to announce that Caden James McCorvey is here :D He arrived into the world on August 8, 2009 weighing in at 8lbs. 8oz. and 19.5 inches long. Here's our story...

So, the day I turned 39 weeks, we went for our checkup. My doctor walked into the exam room and asked how I was doing and I started to cry... It was pretty obvious to her that I was very uncomfortable and so she suggested my being induced. We weighed it for a few minutes together... I was already dilated to 4cm and 90% effaced on my own so she felt with that kind of natural progress an induction had an 85% chance or so of resulting in a vaginal delivery. So, together we agreed that August 8th would be the day! My doctor wasn't scheduled to be working that weekend, but she wanted to deliver our baby, so she said she would be there for us that day;) sooo special of her to do that for us! Sooo, Jason and I left our appointment feeling excited, relieved and bewildered. We immediately came home and made of list of to-do's and went about cleaning and doing laundry and packing and making sure everything was in tip top shape before we brought our son home for the first time. Jason took Friday off from work to help with the final touches and it gave us one last day of being together before the big day.

On August 8th, I woke up at 2 am in anticipation of going to the hospital and my mind was racing with excitement and nervousness... I woke Jason up at around 2:45 anxious to talk and start getting ready as we were due at the hospital at 5:15am.

So, once at the hospital, I was connected to the contraction monitor and the nurse, Pooran, noticed I was having contractions already. She suggested I might be able to help her have a hot lunch by delivering quickly ;)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SonmV8BZCmI/AAAAAAAAAQM/xNIRfr131VE/s320/Caden%27s+Birth+002.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5371077295179631202" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SonmWpVUtgI/AAAAAAAAAQU/xUhp2IRk7xM/s320/Caden%27s+Birth+005.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5371077307342829058" />

She also informed me that my doc, Dr. Vyas, was now covering for a co-worker who had fallen ill, but that she would be checking on my progress via telephone and she would be there to deliver our baby. So, the night resident started the induction around 7am which helped make my contractions more intense and helped prepare my cervix for delivery; at that point, I was grateful to not be having any pain. I was checked again at 930am by Dr. Rosenbaum (the self proclaimed "babysitter" doc that filled in until Dr. Vyas was able to make it to the hospital) and at that time I was at 5cm and almost completely effaced, still no pain. They decided to break my water at 1030 am. In the meantime, our parents showed up and helped keep us entertained with my mom singing songs she made up for Caden and Jason's mom showing us card tricks until time to break my water. Up until that point, as I said, I hadn't been having any pain with my contractions, though Pooran reassured me I would ;). Once my water was broken, PAIN, oh my GOSH the pain. I called for my epidural and Dr. Diaz, the chief of anesthesiology, was about to have to do a c-section and I was afraid I would have to wait... luckily, he came to help me out just before the c-section began. God BLESS him! Ok, so at 1130am, Dr. Lam, the day resident came to check my progress... To all of our surprise, I went from 5cm to 8cm in that one hour and all the family (behind the curtain of course) cheered! My dad cheered along with them but then shook his hands in the air and asked what does that mean? Ha. He's cute. So, at that point, Dr. Rosenbaum called Dr. Vyas and she made her way over to the hospital to push with me. By the time she arrived an hour and half later, I was a full 10cm and 100% effaced and ready to push. At that point, Jason and I were left to the business of delivering our baby. Jason was a wonderful coach, very nurturing and supportive. He was so excited watching the progress that it helped keep me motivated and excited too. After one hour of pushing, our sweet Caden was born. Here's the scene that followed...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SonmXpInmKI/AAAAAAAAAQk/w6uwiBIMijs/s320/Caden%27s+Birth+024.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5371077324469409954" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SonmXHNHcHI/AAAAAAAAAQc/nf9Mj0JV2GY/s320/Caden%27s+Birth+010.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5371077315361468530" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/Sono53IdfPI/AAAAAAAAAQs/5ZXm__Fk1ps/s320/Caden%27s+Birth+016.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5371080111365651698" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/Sono6QCXtwI/AAAAAAAAAQ0/dJtFDdr0UIE/s320/caden+and+granddaddy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5371080118050993922" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 257px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SoneVEMldRI/AAAAAAAAAP0/pHOXWsxaLyg/s320/daddy+and+aunts.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5371068484101174546" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SoneV3fxldI/AAAAAAAAAQE/-ykNyl7F_Ws/s320/DSC01238.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5371068497871869394" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SonqNJyySKI/AAAAAAAAAQ8/wEJAUuvP34Q/s320/Caden%27s+Birth+028.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5371081542304155810" />

And last, but not least... To my excitement I found out that I was 2 cm dilated and 50% effaced. My doctor was pretty encouraged by that too seeing as how this is my first baby and I was already making good progress. Then from 36 to 37 weeks, I didn't have the feeling that anything much was really happening... My symptoms had calmed down signficantly, other than just growing discomfort with my growing baby. So, sure enough, I went for my 37 week appointment and was still at 2cm and 50-60% effaced. At first that was disappointing. I felt like maybe I had stalled out and started having thoughts that I might go all the way to 40 weeks, or even beyond. I decided to pray and asked the Lord to give me endurance and patience, trusting in His timing and plan for the birth of a healthy baby and that gave me peace. Thankfully, from 37 to 38 weeks, I started again with more backaches and cramping. For my 38 week checkup (2 days ago), I felt sure I had made more progress and it turns out I was right! I was at 3cm and 80% effaced. From my exam, my doctor said she felt that my water may even break in the next few days! She was even more reassuring by saying she felt pretty confident that I won't go all the way to my due date. I'm feeling relieved and lucky to get that kind of feedback as I know it is much more common for first babies to come late. I am also trying to be the cautious optimistic because I know I really can't know what the outcome will be. There are more signs that indicate labor may be just around the corner, so today I'm pretty anxious and excited. Jason, me and Caden all have a bag packed and in the car and an installed car seat ready to bring home our little boy. It's also my last day to work today and so I'm officially on maternity leave in just a matter of a few hours! It is a little funny to keep going through the motions of everyday life, unsure of when the next sign of labor or labor itself will come. We're on the edge of our seats, but biding our time as patiently as we can.

Family Baby Shower

My sweet mother-in-law and sisters-in-law hosted a baby shower for us at our house on June 28, 2009. It was such a precious time gathering together in celebration of a new life coming into the family. Caden was welcomed with open arms by all and Jason and I were showered with not only a multitude of gifts, but more importantly with love, encouragment and prayers as we are about to begin our new journey into parenthood...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SkpDXb54rJI/AAAAAAAAAPE/tCOObRSfaUc/s200/008.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5353165176989854866" />

My mom and mom-in-law looking excited about their new grandson's arrival!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SkoabIR8kEI/AAAAAAAAANc/tym3UFzo1nM/s200/006.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5353120160464801858" />

My sis's-in-law Chelsea and Natasha giving Caden some love :)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SkoabaN2qDI/AAAAAAAAANk/b2pFHlFwXf0/s200/007.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5353120165279475762" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/Skojkae0aQI/AAAAAAAAAO8/CGEny3uPgSM/s200/DSC01147.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5353130215574104322" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SkodvOfw82I/AAAAAAAAAOM/JSo5YPL5DJI/s200/DSC01161.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5353123804265640802" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SkoiGQV9yaI/AAAAAAAAAOk/-g_-mQ3PM60/s200/DSC01162.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5353128597944912290" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SkoiGhU2SwI/AAAAAAAAAOs/BdQ-YbSZVUI/s200/DSC01168.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5353128602503629570" />

And the winners are Aunt Emily and Cousin Autumn with 11 squares exactly... just like Tasha when she was prego!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SkoacLetrSI/AAAAAAAAAN0/e0HImDtHV0k/s200/014.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5353120178503527714" />

This just moments before reading a poem originally written by Jason's Grandmommy (to the left of me here) for him when he was born which she passed along to our precious son. Caden weighed in at 4lb 12oz and is in the 74th percentile. They think he'll weigh somewhere around 8lbs at birth. Apparently his head is already very low in my pelvis because the ultrasound tech had to search all around the inside of my right hip to find his little face! I'm just too excited that he looks like he has hair! I gave my dad this picture framed for Father's Day and, usually he glances briefly at pictures, smiles and tosses them aside, so I wasn't expecting much of a reaction from him... But he took it out of the box and stared and stared and stared some more... for several minutes. He looked like he was just in utter amazement of what he was seeing. Too precious. He said he thinks his grandson looks handsome and I think he looks like him, so I couldn't agree more :)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 156px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SkFAmtSvRFI/AAAAAAAAANU/q-nHK4LVCyY/s200/caden7months+001.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5350628866030257234" />

Baby Shower!

My dear friends Andria, Jenny and Amy hosted my very first baby shower at Andria's house this weekend. It was beautiful and I was so touched by all their thoughtfulness and creativity-- from the 'fake' Sangria to the wonderful food including quiche, coffee cake muffins, mandarin orange salad and grape salad and last but not least, the monkey cake to match Caden's jungle bedding... loved it!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SjZVBIX9U_I/AAAAAAAAAL4/aoQTN4e0nzg/s200/baby+shower+042.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5347555085465244658" />
My wonderful friends and hostesses, Andria, Jenny and Amy!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SjZf3fU6zaI/AAAAAAAAANI/gwi1uACx0NY/s200/baby+shower+003.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5347567014455725474" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SjZVBaw7LYI/AAAAAAAAAMA/o2pOcjIuuvU/s200/DSC01090.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5347555090401799554" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SjZVBmSaE6I/AAAAAAAAAMI/8_Q9T0xf7kw/s200/baby+shower+008.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5347555093495026594" />
The Second Baptist Girls! We left June 3 and flew into Miami where we rented a car to drive on to Key Largo via the Overseas Highway~ we arrived at our hotel late the first day so just relaxed and enjoyed a nice dinner. On day 2, in the afternoon, with our newly purchased grocery store snorkels and masks, we headed out to the beach front, right in front of our room...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SjANZcawcaI/AAAAAAAAAKw/oOoHBvCMjNA/s200/Key+largo+019.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345787488465088930" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SjANZGNi-DI/AAAAAAAAAKo/brI7aLzqs10/s200/Key+largo+017.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345787482504099890" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SjANYhkfd7I/AAAAAAAAAKg/fJXTfolnqQI/s200/Key+largo+015.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345787472668227506" />

...and swam around in the aqua marine waters. We discovered all kinds of plant life and little fishies... After a short time in the water, we both noticed our legs were stinging. Turns out the strange plants that seemed to be 'breathing' were actually upside down jellyfish and we were swimming all around them! I didn't get a picture of the actual ones, but here's what they looked like~ Don't worry, we didn't get stung too badly ;) The red marks disappeared the same day!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SjAHCiPyabI/AAAAAAAAAKI/6Kpk8UmM7qs/s200/jellyfish2jan12504.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345780497822935474" />

I decided to brave the camera in a bathing suit in order to document what 30 weeks of pregnancy looked like on me.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SjAKINCM1JI/AAAAAAAAAKQ/hDnsg7e06UE/s200/Key+largo+006.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345783893742900370" />

And Jason being a model... (I posed him that way ;-)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SjAKp8eVR5I/AAAAAAAAAKY/KPCatIZIu24/s200/Key+largo+011.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345784473413044114" />

Day 2 was also our 8 month weddding anniversary, so we went to dinner at a seaside restuarant called the Mandalay. Food was kinda good... there was a better place yet to come ;)

After our fun experience with amateur snorkeling we decided we wanted to do the real thing and go out on an actual snorkeling tour with John Pennekemp Coral Reef State Park. So, day 3, we suited up and headed out. We bought an underwater camera, but I still have to develop the film... hopefully I will be able to add those pics this week and stay tuned, hopefully my barracuda picture came out clear! In the meantime, here's the website so you can see what we saw!

http://www.pennekamppark.com/snorkeling.html

and another random barracuda, but not mine ;)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 123px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SjAa5fxb_OI/AAAAAAAAALg/hCpe-usvK7c/s200/reef_animals3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345802332772498658" />

Here's my barracuda!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 132px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SjFch0PkoHI/AAAAAAAAALw/E21X0lTbmgI/s200/92620013.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5346155968694886514" />

Anyways, so after snorkeling, we had a late lunch picnic style at the park and then later that night we decided to try out a fun local pizza place, The Tower of Pizza, family owned for 25 years! The pizza was so good that even though we had no microwave, we decided to bring it back with us. My engineer husband decided the coffee pot was really just a nondescript heating element anyway and thus proceeded to heat up the leftovers in a somewhat unconventional way ;)

Day 4 we decided to lay out at the beach by the hotel. Jason had gotten burned on his back from snorkeling the day before, so he spent most of the day with a towel draped over his head and shoulders. We also had fun with the little beach side activities including a ping pong table... Here's Jason whipping up on some of the hotel guests.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SjASHMBO-II/AAAAAAAAALA/2W1lAp7t4lI/s200/Key+largo+028.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345792672383563906" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SjASG1D29xI/AAAAAAAAAK4/9_iJ-NNk8Zw/s200/Key+largo+027.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345792666220558098" />

We followed up our day with our favorite place to dine in Key Largo, Snooks!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SjAUmXHow_I/AAAAAAAAALI/eENms9nYZnE/s200/Key+largo+032.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345795406962410482" />

There was a cool musician guy there who was jamming it up with his guitar and synthesizer keyboard and drums. People were dancing some salsa and calypso... and they closed the night down with a rendition of Sweet Caroline sung by 'Scotty' and his drunk English friend.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SjAYPM769hI/AAAAAAAAALY/CyhK4OVheTA/s200/Key+largo+045.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345799407138436626" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SjAYO9YjY0I/AAAAAAAAALQ/4c-sb66v5Zg/s200/Key+largo+040.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345799402963559234" />

On Sunday we decided to head back to John Pennekamp where we wanted to rent a kayak and go through the mangroves (Florida's 'walking trees')... It turns out a kayak isn't best suited for a pregnant woman, so we opted for a canoe instead. I sat in front to steer while Jason gave us horsepower from behind. We brought the video camera along and captured footage complete with boat crashes and surprise ocean creatures ;-) To be continued...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 133px; height: 200px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SjAhm26eBOI/AAAAAAAAALo/nbkiyDk8GN4/s200/canoeing+mangroves.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345809709148275938" />

That was our last full day in Key Largo... The next morning we packed up and headed over to the beach for one last sand bag tournament before heading back to Miami. There was a sweet little family sitting near us and they had a 2 month old little girl with them. She was precious and so tiny... It was the perfect reminder, as our babymoon came to a close, of the blessings we have to look forward to in meeting our precious little boy in a few weeks to come.

Just Passing Time

Tagged by Courtney :)

8 Things

Here are the rules for "eight things": Mention the person that tagged you. FINALLY :D I was so excited to see what it would look like! Unfortunately, we don't have a crib mattress, so I couldn't put all the bedding together just yet, but it's a start! Pardon the no makeup, Jason said someday our son will think it's sweet to see his pregnant mom putting his crib together... warmed my heart :)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/Sfhg-lOfrHI/AAAAAAAAAJU/YSPdHXzO_PI/s200/025.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5330116787254045810" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SfhgbKZetVI/AAAAAAAAAJM/_TTZjnIurIM/s200/024.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5330116178756941138" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/Sfheuoz9U6I/AAAAAAAAAJE/6BvwxInpdRY/s200/023.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5330114314315322274" />

So, I officially am 25 weeks pregnant today... We were surrounded by monkeys, birds and rainforest and thought it was a peaceful and cute baby motif! My mom gave me the great idea of finding little crystal dragonflies that will sparkle with the nightlight on at night... Sounded so pretty and sweet to me, now if I can just find the dragonflies...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SfhqIeK8HMI/AAAAAAAAAJk/WK4tF4KZNmg/s200/030.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5330126852763425986" />

Taking a closer look in, you can see some of the things I've collected so far... including my giraffe diaper bag which goes with his infant carrier below, also his first little stuffed giraffe from my mom, all his handsome Janie and Jack baby clothes complete with several pairs of overalls (I love little baby bubble overalls!) and my favorite, the monkey and iPood onesies, not to mention Fred the Frog, the first stuffed animal to Caden from Mom ;)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SfhqptzVhGI/AAAAAAAAAJs/AwbnkKPKOPQ/s200/031.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5330127423895077986" />

Notice where his little baby head and little baby bum go... such a tiny little space, hehe ;-)
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SfhrVg9mURI/AAAAAAAAAJ0/_Ud_u81qYzM/s200/033.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5330128176362705170" />

Mommy and Daddy-to-be in just 15 more weeks!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/Sfhry0GijPI/AAAAAAAAAJ8/ghHUvIJnyI4/s200/037.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5330128679716687090" />

After Six Months of Marriage...

Our anniversary dinner at Brenner's Steakhouse on April 4, 2008
(pic is a little fuzzy 'cause Jason took it with his camera phone)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SduiSFqCrOI/AAAAAAAAAIs/_fJs0rnHkIs/s200/6mo.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5322025816308231394" />
I'm not sure a lot has changed in what I believed about marriage from before we got married, to now, 6 months later. For instance, I still believe now just as much as I did then, that Jason is God's perfect gift for me. And I still believe just as much as ever that God didn't intend marriage to make us 'happy' in and of itself, but to make us more like Him... and you can't make something pure from what is utterly impure without a little fire ;)

God saw fit to give me Jason because he is such a good example for me. I have found that he represents so much of how and who I want to be. He never says an unkind word about anyone, is unendingly tolerant and patient with people and most situations and he is always striving to move forward, get better, achieve something.

Since we got married~

I have learned some ways we balance each other...
He always looks on the positive side of things, and can have a tendency towards idealism while I have a tendency to be a bit of a realist with a tendency towards pessimism. ~ He keeps me light, I keep him real. God wants us to enjoy the pleasures of life and He uses the challenges to grow us. We can and should rejoice during all seasons. Some seasons may be seasons of just good emotions, others may be a time of sobering joy~ having to exercise faith to see beyond the circumstances to the greater good.

And the ways in which to grow...
We have been blessed by our Newlywed Sunday School class. It is led by two couples, one of which has been married for over 30 years. They are still very much in love and you can see the richness and fullness of their marriage as a result of having believed in God's plan for marriage. They have taught us great little tools like 'the do-over' where you have a conversation that initially didn't go very well and you mutally decide to erase it and do it over... this time correcting it with a better tone of voice, more understanding, patience. We talked this past Sunday about things you should know in order to be a successful communicator. The most important points for me to take away being encouragement that communicating well doesn't happen over night, it takes time. That communicating is influenced by family of origin, personality, situational~ mood and circumstances and that all must be taken into consideration when conflict arises so as to better give one another grace. Managing conflict takes seeking understanding of each other's perspective and MOST significant to me was learning that our self talk~ the way we choose to internally process each other's response to something, has everything to do with how healthy we view our relationship. If you believe your relationship is healthy, then you feel good about each other and maintain the emotion of feeling 'in love.' I think it is so vital to learn to manage your self talk as a result... making sure to give one another the benefit of the doubt and always remembering to be thankful for the opportunity to share your life with your best friend.

Anyway, these are just some things I have been inspired and comforted by and helps me feel all the much more confident that I am where I am supposed to be. None of this would even be possible without our faith in Christ who makes all things possible. I love you, Jesus, with all my heart.

Our little drummer BOY!!!

Yes it's true, Jason and I are going to be the proud parents of a bouncing baby BOY!!! We went for the ultrasound yesterday accompanied by my mom. As soon as the transducer was placed on my belly and the first images appeared, Jason and I both secretly thought 'it's a boy'. Once our suspicions were confirmed, Jason looked up excitedly and swung a victorious fist in the air ;) Now the pressure is off since he no longer has to worry about following a baby girl around with a shotgun... Baby boy McCorvey is said to be looking fantastic and perfectly healthy and normal. We are both thrilled!

Here are some images of us minutes after finding out.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SbkZPmrG74I/AAAAAAAAAH8/iZH57Rgk1UU/s200/015.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312304991330299778" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SbkZPsWj4cI/AAAAAAAAAH0/ZpLZg6OhmUY/s200/013.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312304992854729154" />

Once we collected our thoughts (well somewhat collected, my mom was pretty shocked judging by her glassy eyed expression) we all decided to go and buy our little man child his first clothes. We stopped first at Target, but unfortunately there was nothing to my liking. Jason and my mom enjoyed going on about my picky perfectionism when it comes to things such as clothes ;) So, it was little surprise that I wanted to head straight over to 'children's row' at the Galleria. There we found the most precious little boy clothes I could imagine. For some reason I have a particular fondness for the vintage train conductor motif?! I can't wait to see him in all his GQ fashionable glory ;)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SbkbSXt7NWI/AAAAAAAAAIM/8fnza6j_qxE/s200/023.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312307237878445410" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SbkbSOMCpmI/AAAAAAAAAIE/Q-zPt11fuhQ/s200/019.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312307235320407650" />

Prego/Birthday Pics

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SZrW-vsMu3I/AAAAAAAAAHM/zzp4KGnyeH0/s200/007.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5303787884624264050" />
Me this morning @ 15 weeks :)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SZrVRtJSicI/AAAAAAAAAHE/Nw59h9Z4nZQ/s200/004.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5303786011335231938" />
Betsy, Debbie, Gina, Amy and me at Amy's birthday party at Pappasitos 2/7/09

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SZrUl8Dqd1I/AAAAAAAAAG8/pPtL0xPCBPA/s200/003.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5303785259423922002" />
Gina and me (She is 19 weeks and I'm 13.5 weeks)

Yahooooo!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 56px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SYhX9M0LDkI/AAAAAAAAAGc/dqq8jBP90Gk/s200/061.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5298581670525079106" />
So, I just wanted to share that I finally caved and signed up for facebook (which my husband now calls 'crackface' seeing as how I am kinda addicted to it?) I even heard and felt the sheets crushing around me! In my intense fear that something was after me, I let out a high pitched shriek... (hehe, I'm laughing out loud now thinking about it as I have been since it happened)and so at the same moment I screamed, Jason, in one swift move, goes from flat on his back to flat on his feet in the middle of the bed, knees bent with his fists in the air!... I laid in bed for nearly half an hour after that giggling at my husband's fierce heroism.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 165px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SVqH1Ztu3LI/AAAAAAAAAF4/Y3DQRygTs_c/s200/jasonwarrior.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5285686464178216114" />

Song of Songs

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 393px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vpjXd3vyytI/SRSFEJXbYwI/AAAAAAAAAFM/GLnTdvRtasY/s400/IMG_2598_1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265980170583106306" /> On October 4, 2008, I became Mrs. Jason McCorvey! We got married at 6pm at Lakewood United Methodist Church surrounded by those nearest and dearest to us. It was such a wonderful, blessed day that neither of us will ever forget. My favorite moment was when I got to see Jason for the first time. I could see he was smiling but upon seeing one another, his eyes as well as mine, immediately filled with tears! So precious it was! Little did I know that that would lead to a thirteen year dating journey of hill climbs and pitfalls, blind sides and head-on collisions, feast and famine, detours and dead ends... But with each bump, scrape and bruise (as I wittingly refer to my exes ;) I got tougher and softer, smarter and wiser and learned to smooth out the rough edges... And then came Jason :).

Now focused, centered and prepared, I was running my race, patient, hopeful, confident and steady when Jason eased along side me and seemed to be keeping the same pace. I felt different about him and about how I felt with him. He was pure, kind, gentle, natural and I was so peaceful and excited with him. My heart beat fast and I got such a warmth inside when I heard from him or got to be around him. Little by little, the good Lord revealed Jason's unwaivering character, his steadfastness, his strength and his joy. He had such a light from within that I just had never experienced in any man or relationship before. Cautiously optimistic was I, remembering the experience of times past, but trusting in the Good Lord's timing and plan. Jason and I climbed a few hills, landed in some pitfalls, discovered our blind sides and even had a few collisions... but each time, we turned our hearts, our relationship and our hope to Him above and each time discovered something greater... That our experiences, the good and the bad helped us learn more about ourselves, one another and how we work as a couple... and we work so unquestionably well, which is why we are planning and preparing to commit our lives on earth to one another. I am eternally grateful for having the privilege and opportunity to spend my life with such a Godly man, ever growing, evolving and changing. My prayer is to grow in love, serve in love and cherish one another in love as Christ to His church throughout our days on earth.

"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." Having a short temper, being easily frustrated even angered and just plain feeling low. I questioned many times why I have felt that way and wasn't able to pinpoint it, becoming even more frustrated in the process. During a blessed conversation in the park last Sunday morning, my precious soon-to-be husband, in his loving concern sought me out, inquired into what might be causing it. We discussed the feelings I had, fear, unworthiness, laziness, lack of confidence. We discussed our current growth in the Lord and learning to accept challenges that come our way in an effort to be more fruitful for His kingdom. We discussed the example of a married couple near and dear to us that faithfully serve the Lord and how we have learned and grown through their example. As we contninued to discuss the things of the Lord and His word, the hard, stubborn pieces in my heart started to chip and fall away and I began feeling a sense of cleansing and release. The dark cloud within my heart was melting away in the presence of God's warming light. That same Sunday, Jason and I went to our newly/nearly wed bible study class and the topic of discussion was "how to help each other grow". We combed through Psalm 119 and I had one of those familiar moments of feeling like the lesson was purposed for me***. God's message to me was that I was loved and that my time in the darkness was over. All I can say now is thank God for the timelessness of His word and his many faithful ones who understand that fact. For by hearing his word and through their faithfulness, diligence and service to the Lord, I recognize that my lack of joy and inspiration has been a result of not having quality time with my Father and thus not being filled with His spirit which is all things good. I was cutting myself off from the source of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness and therefore not reflecting them in my attitude and actions towards others.

***Verses assinged to my group to read***
Psalm 119: 25-32
I am laid low in the dust; preserve my life according to your word. I recounted my ways and you answered me; teach me your decrees. Let me understand the teaching of your precepts; then I will meditate on your wonders. My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word. Keep me from deceitful ways; be gracious to me through your law. I have chosen the way of truth; I have set my heart on your laws. I hold fast to your statutes, O Lord; do not let me be put to shame. I run in the path of your commands, for you have set my heart free.

Getting older

Just had a birthday, and I have to admit, wasn't excited about turning 28. It didn't help when the 19ish year old waitor at the restaurant decided that I was too old to announce my birthday and instead reported to the rest of the restaurant spectators that my birthday was "unnumbered". I guess when I was 19, 28 did seem kinda up there ;).

But you know, it's a great thing to get older and to start becoming more of who you wanted to be all along. I am going through this phase where I feel like each day I gain a greater perspective of my relationships and myself. God is teaching me to see things more through His eyes, not to be so sensitive and judgmental. My friends, whom I had placed on a pedastal, I have finally learned are not perfect... They are just trying to make a go of life as I am. Trial and error, learning from mistakes, forgiving oneself and others, knowing better and doing better, placing grievances/misperceptions aside and choosing to enjoy one another in love. They, like myself, won't always realize/recognize where we've gone wrong, but isn't the point that we all do things that disappoint, whether intended or not, so shouldn't we just forgive? And I'm not so far behind as I thought.

My family is not crazy, and just because I don't necessarily view the world from their standpoint, that doesn't mean they are wrong, or that I have to do as they do... and the best part of it all, I can love them even in spite of our differences. There is a happy middle ground where we can be close.

I'm learning to be stronger, more independent and confident... finally. I'm learning that I can't always and don't have to try to please everyone all the time, but I certainly can try to be a good, dependable friend and enjoy who I am and the experiences I have along the way.

getting older, getting better.
